HIV is a death sentence

WHAT IT IS *HIV* = Human Immunodeficiency Virus.



It attacks the immune system. *AIDS* is the late stage of HIV when the body can’t fight infections.
HOW IT SPREADS
Through unprotected sex, infected blood, sharing needles, and from mother to child during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding.
COMMON SYMPTOMS
Early symptoms are like flu. Late stage AIDS causes weight loss, constant infections, fever, and tiredness.
TREATMENT
There’s no cure yet, but *ARVs* help people live long, healthy lives and keep the virus level very low.
PREVENTION
Use condoms, get tested regularly, don’t share needles, take PrEP/PEP, and ensure pregnant women get treatment to protect the baby.
